A wild three-team trade scenario has recently been suggested that would send John Wall to the Boston Celtics, Ricky Rubio to the Washington Wizards, and Isaiah Thomas and Jonas Jerebko to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Celtics are reportedly still in the hunt for that legitimate superstar player even after the team has already snagged four-time NBA All-Star Al Horford from the Atlanta Hawks during free-agency this summer.
A lot of players have been linked to Boston this offseason, including superstars Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Jimmy Butler, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Paul Millsap and second-tier stars Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, Rudy Gay, Gordon Hayward, and Greg Monroe.
These players would allow the Celtics to form a new Big Three, but the team has yet to pull off any trades involving the aforementioned players.
Inquisitr reported the wild three-way, four-player trade rumor mentioned above, but the deal will not give the Celtics the Big Three that they want as the team needs to let go of starting point guard Thomas and Jerebko to be able to land former no. 1 pick Wall to their side.
The report noted, however, that the suggested trade will not be approved by the NBA as Wall's incoming $17 million in wages is $5 million higher than the combined salaries of Thomas and Jerebko. The trade has to be revised for it to push through.
Moreover, the Wolves are reportedly not yet ready to let go of Rubio at this point. NBA.com indicated that Minnesota head coach Tom Thibodeau would first like to see how this year's fifth overall pick, Kris Dunn, will perform as the team's quarterback before re-assessing if Rubio is already tradable.
The league's official website said that Thibodeau is looking at "approximately 20 games into the regular season" before he makes a decision regarding the Spanish playmaker.
Rubio, who remains as a starter-quality NBA floor general, is set to receive $43 million in the next three seasons from the Wolves and Minnesota will definitely consider how much they are willing to pay for a backup point guard.
Meanwhile, there were rumors last season that the relationship between Wall and his Wizards backcourt partner, Bradley Beal, has been worsening as the years pass, with the former Kentucky standout admitting it in an interview earlier this summer.
If Wall and Beal will not be able to show good chemistry in the first few months of the new season, then expect the Wizards to look closely into this suggested deal.
