Half-Filipino actress Vanessa Hudgens reunited with her fellow "High School Musical" stars for the 10th year anniversary of the global sensation. The group joined the special telecast in a taped message on the Disney Channel.

Hudgens appeared alongside her real-life friend Ashley Tisdale. Actress Monique Coleman with actor Cordin Bleu and actor Lucas Grabeel also taped their nostalgic segments while filming the movie at a high school gymnasium.

Hudgens' father is of Irish and Native American descent while her mother is from Manila, Philippines. The actress started her career at the age of eight singing in musical theater but the film was what shot her to fame.

The most popular cast member of them all, actor Zac Efron will join the special with a pre-taped message for all their "High School Musical" fans.

Efron was busy filming other movies at the time, Daily Mail has learned.  The actor will star in the new Baywatch movie.

Another taped segment was done by the cast which was interviewed by Radio Disney's Ernie D, according to the official website of The Walt Disney Company. This particular interview will be presented during "Radio Disney Insider" on Jan. 21.

In a press article released through the official website, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide Gary Marsh proudly claimed that it was the group's optimism, dedication and extraordinary talent that made it such an exceptional movie and cultural phenomenon.

Marsh also added that the movie continues to be a delight around the world not only for memorable song and dance numbers but also for the movie's universal themes.

When "High School Musical" premiered in January 2006, the movie brought 7.7 million Total Viewers in the U.S. At that time, the movie had the highest ratings for any telecast on the Disney Channel.

The movie reached over 100 million unduplicated views and was the only TV movie soundtrack that reached #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The soundtrack continued to become the #1 soundtrack and #1 Kids's album for 2006.

The anniversary special telecast of the movie along with the reunion special will air on Jan. 20, Wednesday on the Disney Channel. Subsequent telecasts of the movie and its sequels will follow the days after.
