"Iron Fist" showrunner and creator Scott Buck has confirmed that Jeri Hogarth (Carrie-Anne Moss) will have an important role in Danny Rand's (Finn Jones) life. He hinted that Hogarth is very much involved in the story of the series.

"She has an extremely important role in Danny's life," he said at the New York Comic-con.

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb hinted that there will "metaphorical fights" between Rand and Hogarth since Rand may find Hogarth cutthroat and pragmatic approach too much for his optimistic upbringing, Screen Rant reported.

"Danny has very much a hopeful optimism about him, and Carrie-Anne obviously lives in a different kind of world, and so being able to see those two worlds collide is just the beginning of the many obstacles that he goes through," Loeb explained.

Danny's wide-eyed innocent optimism will come in conflict with the ways in the outside world. On one hand, he is brought up in a non-materialistic and focused side of the world while on the other hand, he is also suffering from trauma because of his tragic past, Comic Book Resources reported. "Iron Fist" actor Finn Jones said that Danny's trip home will also be a journey to find his own identity to reconcile the contradictions on himself.

Jeri Hogarth is a gender-swapped version of Jeryn Hogarth in the comic books. Hogarth served as the executor of the Rand estate after the death of Danny's father. The character went to become the legal representative of "Heroes for Hire," an organization founded by Luke Cage and Danny Rand.

The character was introduced in the MCU as a cutthroat lawyer in "Jessica Jones" with a substantial amount of participation in the story. The character also appeared in "Daredevil" Season 2.

"Iron Fist" arrives on March 17, 2017.
