Perhaps you might need cliché for a good romance as a number of K-dramas include a pattern in their romance plots. It may have captured your heart, where you know where it leads you to, or perhaps, it just sounds familiar.

Here are five types of K-drama romance plots that can surely please viewers, despite how overwhelmingly cliché they are.

The Romeo and Juliet Plot

It is like the classic forbidden love story, which happens many times. It is interesting not only due to its forbidden acts, but how the opposite attract each other. Just like the "Secret Garden" and "Heirs," the couple has to battle their parents' disapproval, which can turn the fantasy into a bumpy ride.

The Fake Marriage to Please Parents Plot

This may sound familiar as the main character has to find someone to keep a secret from their family or make a lover jealous. The best way to do that is to get involved with a perfect stranger. However, the fake relationship turns into showing real emotions, just like "Fated to Love You" or "Marry Me, Mary." It then makes the fake couple balance their real feelings for each other.

The Gender Bender Plot

The classic K-drama cliché can embody this type of romance forever. Just like working as a café waiter in "Coffee Prince," pretend to be your twin brother in an Idol group like "You're Beautiful" or disguise as a boy enrolled in an all-boys school like "To the Beautiful You."

The girls' disguises are quite visible on screen, but the casts cannot even determine whether she is a girl. It gets the leading man interested in her, which he finds awkward and even questions his sexuality.

The Accidental Step Sibling Plot

A question then pops up whether one should fall for her or his step-sibling or maybe just perhaps in the movie?

This seems to be the case in K-dramas like "Sassy Go Go" and "Love Rain." It is quite awkward when two members of the same family - like the main character and his parent - fall for two members of another family. Certainly, the daughter/son gives way for their parents' happiness. This then creates a conflict where a plot can be derived.

The Cinderella Plot

It is a Cinderella story without the cleaning and the basement. A rich handsome man comes to your rescue to provide wonderful dresses and makeovers for many days, just like "Birth of a Beauty." It is a personal favorite when one come to his/her senses from the rags they came from.
