"10 Cloverfield Lane" star Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins actors Ewan McGregor and Carrie Coon in the critically-acclaimed FX anthology "Fargo" Season 3. She will be in a series-regular role.

According to Variety, Winstead will play Nikki Swango. Her character is a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing. She is a woman with a plan. She is always focused on being at least one move ahead of her opponents.

Alongside Winstead, the previously cast McGregor and Coon will also star in "Fargo" Season 3, TV Line reported. McGregor will play two roles, namely brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. Coon will play the chief Gloria Burgle of the Eden Valley police.

The plot of "Fargo" Season 3 focuses on a pair of look-alike brothers. Emmit is the older of the two. He is a good-looking, self-assured real estate magnate, also known as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota. Ray is his younger brother, who is a flabby parole officer. He believes that his older brother is somehow responsible for his sorry state of affairs.

"Fargo" is created by Noah Hawley who is the showrunner, director, and writer, as well as the executive producer. It is nominated for 18 Emmys for its Season 2. It already won two Emmys at the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend. It heads into this Sunday's ceremony.

Winstead recently starred on J.J. Abrams' horror drama "10 Cloverfield Lane." She is currently seen in CBS series "BrainDead" from "The Good Wife" creators Robert and Michelle King. Now that she is moving to "Fargo," the future of the horror drama series is struggling. She is represented by WME and Jackoway Tyerman.

The production of "Fargo" Season 3 is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year, with new episodes dropping in 2017. The Coen brothers, Warren Littlefield, and John Cameron are the executive producers with Hawley. MGM Television with FX Productions is the lead studio.
