PSY’s ‘Chiljip Psy-da’ Album Dominates South Korean Charts; 'Daddy' Now Has 6 Million Views On YouTube

Global K-pop sensation PSY's seventh album "Chiljip Psy-da" topped South Korean Music Charts. The album was released Dec. 2, his first album since 2012 after the hit "Gangnam Style" three years ago.

Three songs are notable on seven domestic charts. As reported in The Korea Times, the songs "Napal Baji" and "Daddy" topped seven domestic charts while "Dream" topped the Bugs chart.

"Napal Baji" is funk in genre with the touch of 70's retro style rhythm of drumming and guitar and is in Korean language while "Daddy" is an energetic dance song with a tune based on a fast-tempo synthesizer sound.

The album has nine songs, ranging from electronic dance genre to the latest music trend.

Many artists are featured on the new album like will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, the English sensation Ed Sheeran and Junsu of the K-pop band JYJ are among others.

"Daddy" has already reached almost 6 million views on Youtube after 24 of its release.

"There were many thoughts going around in my head," PSY told told the media a day before "Chiljip PSY-Da" debuts as posted on COED. "Including thoughts like, 'If I write like this, it would be not as good as Gangnam Style,' and 'If I write like this, the international audience will not understand,' so it took me a very long time to organize all those thoughts into one,"  

The 37-year-old K-pop sensation had written "Daddy" in collaboration with of will.i.am while CL of 2NE1 is featured in the song.

"Daddy", with its crazy dance moves and its upbeat tune has now over 40 million views on YouTube.
