'Power Rangers' movie storyline, release update: First trailer airs during SDCC; Storyline unrevealed, but TV series key elements present

"Power Rangers" movie is scheduled to be released in 2017, but rumors are loud that it will go against the popular TV series' storyline.

"Power Rangers" movie cast members have confirmed that they will attend the 2016 San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) this month, and during the event, it is also expected that the first trailer of the reboot will be shown.

The "Power Rangers" Becky G, who will play Yellow Ranger, and Dacre Montgomery, as the Red Ranger, in the upcoming film have announced their attendance in SDCC this July, The Movie Network reported.

"Power Rangers" actor Becky G confirmed her attendance in the 2016 SDCC during an interview on Mega 96.3, while Dacre Montgomery broke the news on his Twitter post. Lionsgate has not yet released the truth of the attendance of the cast at 2016 SDCC, but the studio did share the tweet Montgomery made on their official Twitter account.

The rumor that "Power Rangers" movie trailer is to be released at the event caused many fans excitement of the reboot, especially that its first poster has been released already. The "Power Rangers" movie fans are hopeful that the movie will bring justice to the TV series they grew up with.

"Trumbo" actor Bryan Cranston, who will be playing the villain in "Power Rangers" movie, said that the movie will differ from the TV series, Entertainment reported. He also admitted that he was first uninterested in playing the role for the movie, but upon reading the script, he changed his mind.

Cranston compared the "Power Rangers" movie, to the "Dark Knight" trilogy version adapted by Christopher Nolan. According to the "Kung Fu Panda 3" actor, there will be a twist of a reimagined version to the movie, but critical elements of the series will be found.
