The new SBS Korean drama, titled "Doctors," is reportedly reaching very high ratings now, which led to fans and analysts predict that it could even surpass the hit series "Descendants of the Sun."

The ratings research company Nielsen Korea revealed that the July 4 episode of "Doctors" reached 18.4 percent, Soompi cited. The 18.4 rating is said to be a 2.4 increase from the previous episode of the new Korean drama.

Ratings for the new drama continue to increase, episode after episode, and it is reported that its popularity could grow more in the coming weeks. "Doctors" actually is on the top spot against other Korean dramas such as the MBC's "Monster" and KBS 2TV's "Beautiful Mind." "Monster" has received 11.1 percent ratings while "Beautiful Mind" recorded 3.5 percent in ratings.

"Doctors" is a medical drama starring Park Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won. Park plays the role of Yoo Hye Jeong while Kim plays the role of Hong Ji Hong. The setting is in the hospital as the title suggests and fans love the chemistry between the two actors.

During the premiere of "Doctors," it had a 12.9 percent rating last June 20. It increased to 14.2 on its second episode, The Bitbag reported. It is possible that if the popularity of "Doctors" continues to increase in the coming weeks, it could surpass "Descendants of the Sun," which recorded a 38.8 percent rating in the April finale of the show.

Meanwhile, "Descendants of the Sun's" second season may be released soon, but fans were a bit dismayed that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will not be taking part for the second run of the series. The show is said to be filming for its second season and is expected to be released on small screen by 2017.
