South Korean group BIGBANG snatched the "Best Artist from the World" award at the 2016 Italian MTV Awards on Sunday, June 19 in Florence, Italy, making them the first K-pop group to receive the honor.

The group managed to beat famous Italian artists such as Negramaro and The Kolors as well as international singers like Ariana Grande, Avril Lavigne, Justin Bieber, One Direction, and other big names in the industry, SBS reported.

G-Dragon personally thanked BIGBANG's fans for their continued support. "Thank you for showing LOVE VIP 'Best artist from the world' at the 2016 Italian MTV Awards!" the group's leader wrote on his social media account, according to AllKpop.

On June 14, the award-winning group managed to chalk another achievement as another of their video reached 100 million views on global video sharing network YouTube, YG Entertainment announced. This made BIGBANG the first Korean group to have four music videos with up to 100 million views on YouTube.

On the other hand, the five-member group is set to release a film entitled BIGBANG Made on June 30 at CGV theatres, as part of their 10th-year anniversary celebration. The upcoming film will feature BIGBANG's second world tour Made, which took place from April 2015 to March 2016.

The tour attracted an estimated 1.5 million fans from more than 13 nations across Asia, the United States and Oceania.
