What was supposed to be an attempt to make an impactful and socially relevant commercial ad from Pepsi turned into a massive storm of backlash against the company and the ad's leading lady, Kendall Jenner. Following the criticism and Pepsi's subsequent pull out of the commercial, sources reveal that Jenner is very upset about the outcome.

PEOPLE reported that the Jenner is "in constant communication with her mom and sisters" as she draws support in light of the controversy she is currently embroiled in. According to the source, the 21-year-old model has been very upset and feels terrible.

The source adds that Jenner was very excited to get the Pepsi gig and never expected to receive backlash from it. Also, the Victoria's Secret model wants to clarify that she was not involved in the creative process of the Pepsi commercial.

"Anything offensive is just not her. She means well, always," a source close to the Kardashian family reveals.

Jenner's now controversial Pepsi ad was heavily criticized for trivializing the message Black Lives Matter is trying to convey. Many thought that the commercial, which was originally intended to send a message of peace and unity across the globe, missed its mark. Some commenters say the Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad did not showcase the depth of what it truly means to take to the streets and fight for a cause.

One of those who criticized the controversial Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad was Bernice King, daughter of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. "If only Daddy would have known about the power of Pepsi," King said in a tweet, in reference to a scene in the commercial where Kendall Jenner hands a can of Pepsi to a police officer and the group of protesters rejoice after.

Since the release of the Pepsi commercial starring Jenner, the soda brand has issued an apology, explaining they did not intend "make light of any serious issue," The Independent reported. Due to immense pressure, Pepsi has pulled out the controversial Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad.
