Donnie Yen is confirmed to play as Wei Shen in the upcoming 'Sleeping Dogs' movie

Donnie Yen has captured the hearts of several fans worldwide, and as of today, Hollywood filmmakers are starting to roll the dice for him. The Chinese star actor is now confirmed to take the lead role in the film adaptation of the popular video game called "Sleeping Dogs."

According to the Slash Film, movie producer Neil Moritz pulled Donnie Yen to play the undercover cop for the upcoming movie adaptation of the Sleeping Dogs video game. After taking some important role in the recent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the Hollywood is now opening its doors to the Asian superstar.

The original video game title "Sleeping Dogs" was developed by Square Enix back in 2012. The game received a very high score from several game critics due to its gameplay similar to the Grand Theft Auto series while incorporating the new hand-to-hand combat.

The "Sleeping Dogs" exhibits the story of an undercover cop named Wei Shen as the main protagonist of the game. Wei Shen joined the Chinese mafia in Hong Kong in order to investigate the crimes held by the group called The Triad. Along the story, Shen became the organization's top asset and a trustworthy errand boy.

As for the game, "Sleeping Dogs" is one of the video game titles that showcased several characters during the course of the game. It is like you are playing a movie since players are engaged to several quests and scenarios.

A report from the GameSpot, it is not clear yet if Yen will be playing as Wei Shen or he might be given a new name for the movie. All we know so far is that the Fast and Furious series producers Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons will be guiding the film. With this, it won't be a surprise if the upcoming "Sleeping Dogs" movie will be a massive hit.
