The Los Angeles Lakers just pulled an NBA trade earlier today as they send Lou Williams to the Houston Rockets and took Corey Brewer in return. Brewer comes with a 1st-round pick, as the Lakers expects him to help the team with his scoring and defensive ability.

The SB Nation confirmed that the Lakers trade their sixth-man and current leading scorer to the Houston Rockets. The Rockets sent Corey Brewer to the Lakers along with a 2018 first-round draft pick, that the Lakers are reportedly about to use to draft a backup forward.

Corey Brewer was a big help to the Rockets during their Playoffs run last 2015 NBA season. Unfortunately, Brewer is not performing well this season, as he struggles to make shots that gave him 23.4 percent from the field.

Though he has not been the player he was, especially on the offense, Brewer has been a good replacement for the injured starters like Patrick Beverly and Eric Gordon. He is one of the coach's favorite due to his defensive prowess and high-motor when it comes to offense.

Lou Williams on the other end is obviously a very big help to the Rockets. With an average of 18.6 points and 2.3 assists per contest, Williams can definitely fill the floor with his rick offense everytime James Harden sits on the bench. Not only that, Williams is known to be a combo-guard that he can play with James Harden together on the floor, providing a real nightmare to the opposing team.

According to a report, this is the first move of the new basketball operations president Magic Johnson. Johnson also fired the longtime Mitch Kupchak and is about to be replaced by the sports agent Rob Pelinka as the ESPN confirmed. Magic Johnson is expected to improve the Lakers' standing and stop their Playoffs drought until the next season.

Reports showed that Lou Williams being a 30-year old veteran, is unlikely to be a factor in the Lakers' future plans. The Lakers are currently keeping their young talents and has been very patient in the process that they are currently doing, tanking and rebuilding.
