Boston Celtics will have the logo of General Electric in their uniform starting next season. GE is one of the world- most influential company which recently move its headquarter in Boston.

The Celtics and GE have reached a deal to put the company’s logo on the jersey of Boston Celtics players for the next season as reported by Boston Globe. The agreement between the team and General Electric was reached on Tuesday, Jan. 24 in a short and simple deal.

Boston Celtics announced the three-year deal with General Electric on Wednesday, Jan. 25 as reported by Reuters. The sponsorship deal is part of three-year deal between Boston Celtics and GE which relocated its headquarter to Boston last year.

NBA has allowed the teams to a negotiate a deal to put sponsorship logo on the team’s uniform in April last year. The agreement was strengthened in the Collective Bargaining Agreement in December.

The first team who stroke the deal to the sponsorship was Philadelphia 76ers in May 2016 with StubHub, an online tiket sales. A few months later Sacramento Kings followed suit by signing the sponsorship deal with the Blue Diamond Almond in October 2016. The Kings will receive $15 million in three-year deal with the most famous almond producer in Sacramento.

Both Celtics and GE have not disclosed the amount of the deal to put the iconic GE logo in the most decorated NBA team Boston Celtics. However, many analysts predicted the deal is around $5 million for each season.

NBA is the first league from the four major sports leagues in United States to allow team to put the sponsorship logo in their uniform. There will be challenges regarding the sponsorship logo in team’s uniform. But NBA only allowed the size of the logo to 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches, much smaller than that of the sponsorship logo on common international jersey.
