The sequel of the "Goosebumps" book series is set to be released on Jan. 26, 2018.

Sony Pictures first had the movie adaptation of the book in 2015, which instantly became a big hit and potted an estimated profit of $150 million with a modest production budget of $58 million. As many remarked, the"Goosebumps" 2015 movie turned out to be the best family films of the year.

Aside from the date of release, reports also confirmed that the second film will be under the direction of Rob Letterman, known for movies such as "Shark Tale" and "Monsters vs. Aliens," and the screenwriter of "Turbo," Darren Lake.

"Goosebumps" 2015 had Jack Black from "School of Rock" as author R.L. Stine, Dylan Minnette from "Prisoners," Ryan Lee of "Super 8" and Odeya Ruch of "The Giver." The first film was about the story of teenagers who teamed up to send back the ghouls to the other world after they were accidentally released by Zach (Dylan Minnette) in the Madison, Delaware.

For those who are familiar with the movie, it is based on R.L. Stine's children horror stories with about 62 volumes. This means that the production team will never be out of stories to craft their next "Goosebumps" sequels, as these anthologies tells an array of horror stories. This is also seen as one of the reasons for the fast production of the sequel of the movie, deviating from the industry practice of having years before a sequel is usually done.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Jack Black has yet to sign the movie, although other reports claim that many expect that he will still reprise his role as R.L. Stine. Moreover, when the sequel was announced earlier, the goal was accordingly to have Jack Black return. Sony has not yet revealed the plot as well as the official casting for the sequel of the hit "Goosebumps" series.
