The Dallas Mavericks (14-27) and Miami Heat (12-30) are set to face one another in a 2016-2017 NBA regular season match on Jan. 19, Thursday at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Dallas is on a roll at the moment with three straight wins following a previous three-game losing slide. The team has climbed to the 12th spot in the West after being in the cellar of the standings for several months.

The Mavericks' most recent game ended in a heart-stopping 99-98 win over the Chicago Bulls last Tuesday on the road at the United Center, as per Dallas News.

All five starters of head coach Rick Carlisle scored in double digits led by Harrison Barnes, with 20 points and four rebounds, and Seth Curry, who had 18 points, two boards, two assists, and two steals.

Deron Williams and Wes Matthews both fired 11 points with the former also having six rebounds and nine assists. Matthews also had four boards and two assists. Dirk Nowitzki added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds with two assists and one steal.

Off the bench, JJ Barea chipped in 12 points and six assists in only 18 minutes of playing time.

Meanwhile, the Heat has continued to struggle with four losses in their last five matches. The team has only won two games in their last 12 outings to drop to the second from the last spot in the Eastern Conference table.

Miami has actually snapped a four-game losing slide in their most recent game after pulling off a huge 109-103 upset win over contending squad Houston Rockets also in their home court of AmericanAirlines Arena on Tuesday night, Fox Sports reported.

The team was able to overcome another triple-double performance by James Harden to prevail in a tight contest.

Goran Dragic led the Heat with 21 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists with Hassan Whiteside backing him up with a double-double of 14 points and 15 boards. Dion Waiters scored 17 points as a member of the starting unit with five rebounds and three assists.

Off the bench, Wayne Ellington, Tyler Johnson, and James Johnson fired 18, 16, and 15 points respectively.

Prediction

The Mavs are 6-16 on the road this season while the Heat has a 6-13 slate at home. It would be a tough match but Miami is favored to win a close one in their home floor.
