The upcoming live action film for popular Japanese manga "Ghost in the Shell" is expected to release a new trailer by Friday. Starring Scarlett Johansson ("The Avengers"), the new trailer is expected to be the lead in for screenings of "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage,"which is slated to debut in theaters on Friday.

This tie-in came as no surprise. As fans would recall, the"xXx" franchise, which stars Vin Diesel, and "Ghost in the Shell" are two of Paramount Studio's biggest releases within the next few months. Using "xXx 3" as a platform to promote "Ghost in the Shell" would help maintain hype until it releases, Cinemablend reported.

What the new trailer could show fans

As of now, there are no definitive news about what fans could expect from the upcoming "Ghost in the Shell" trailer, only that it needs to show more footage about the live-action adaptation. This is because the first trailer was barely anything to go by with regards to the film. As fans would recall, the first "Ghost in the Shell" trailer merely showed a man getting beaten by a nearly invisible force, which is revealed to be Major Killian, Johansson's character.

Fortunately, Paramount Studios must have rectified that lacking promotional tease the first time around, since the new trailer for "Ghost in the Shell" is expected to run two minutes and nine seconds. That is plenty of time to see more footage about how the movie plans to adapt the classic Japanese manga, Comicbook reported.

What to expect from the upcoming 'Ghost in the Shell' film

The same publication reported that the live-action adaptation for "Ghost in the Shell" will follow Major Killian, a special ps human-cyborg hybrid who leads Task Force Section 9. The section is dedicated to the eradication of dangerous criminals, only for their efforts to be upended by a mysterious enemy who wishes to wipe out Hanka Robotic's cyber technology advancements.

The cast of "Ghost in the Shell" also includes Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, and Pilou Asbæk as Batou. It will premiere in theaters on March 31.
