The Denver Nuggets (16-23) and Los Angeles Lakers (15-30) will clash at the Staples Center on Tuesday, Jan. 17 in a 2016-2017 NBA regular season match.

Denver is currently on a two-game winning run after losing their previous five games. The team is settled in the ninth spot in the Western Conference standings with lesser games than the eight-seeded Portland Trail Blazers.

The Nuggets are coming off a high-scoring 125-112 win over fellow struggling team Orlando Magic at their home court of Pepsi Center on Monday night, as per the Denver Post.

Nikola Jokic led Mike Malone's squad with 30 points on 13-for-19 shooting with 11 rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Kenneth Faried started in the match and contributed 20 points, five boards, and two assists.

Emmanuel Mudiay had 18 points and a career-high 13 assists along with two rebounds, two steals, and one block while Danilo Gallinari was the fourth starter in double figures with 15 points. Jameer Nelson and Will Barton added 18 and 11 points respectively coming off the bench.

Darrel Arthur and Gary Harris is out with separate injuries in this game versus the Lakers.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is on a four-game losing slide as the team continued their slow descent in the West table. The team is currently third from the last place in the standings only a half-game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks.

The Lakers dropped a close 102-97 loss to the Detroit Pistons last Sunday also at the Staples Center to succumb to their fifth loss in their last seven matches, the Los Angeles Times reported.

D'Angelo Russell had 20 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in a losing effort. He was the only starter in double figures for head coach Luke Walton's side.

Off the bench, two players scored in double-digits with Lou Williams chipping in 26 points, three boards, and four assists while Jordan Clarkson firing 16 points with two rebounds and two assists.

However, Clarkson is not available in this game against Denver with a sprained ankle.

Prediction 

The Nuggets are not a very good road team with a 7-12 record this season while the Lakers are also poor at home with a 10-12 slate. However, with the momentum in Denver's side, they are favored to win this game against the reeling Lakers.
