"Lucifer" Season 2 once again tests Lucifer Morningstar's feelings for Chloe Decker. Spoilers for the midseason revealed the detective's tragic fate and the devil must return to Hell to save her.

The winter finale of "Lucifer" Season 2 brings the devil back to hell. According to Spoilers Guide, in episode 13, "A Good Day to Die," Lucifer (Tom Ellis) returns home to save Chloe (Lauren German) from dying.

The synopsis for the episode revealed that Lucifer goes to hell to retrieve an antidote from a deceased professor. This antidote is the only thing that can help Chloe, who is on the brink of death after being poisoned. It is unclear if the professor poisoned the detective, although he reportedly created the poison and the antidote.

Meanwhile, in "Lucifer" Season 2 episode 13 the devil must also admit to his sins. His return to hell forces him to confront his guilt about his brother Uriel's death. The devil killed Uriel on Earth, since he refused to surrender his mother Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) or let Chloe die.

Eventually, Charlotte learns that her son returned to hell to retrieve the antidote from the professor. She decides to head back home also to get Lucifer back. However, the devil learns something during his stay in hell that makes him feel betrayed by his parents.

Meanwhile, showrunner Ildy Modrovich told TV Line that Lucifer and Chloe's relationship is in jeopardy in the midseason. However, it seems the devil is prepared to fight for the detective even if it means doing what he refuses to do---return to hell. Clearly, "Lucifer" Season 2 episode 13 shows just how much Chloe matters to Lucifer. After all, this is not the first time he travelled back home to save the detective. He also sacrificed his life in the Season 1 finale in exchange for Chloe's life.
