The Atlanta Hawks (23-17) and New York Knicks (18-23) are set to face one another in a 2016-2017 NBA regular season match at the Madison Square Garden on Monday, Jan. 16.

Atlanta is on a roll lately winning eight of their last nine matches. The team is currently in the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference standings, two games behind third-place team Boston Celtics and six-and-a-half games below conference leaders Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Hawks are coming off a 111-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at their home court of Philips Arena last Sunday, as per ESPN.

Kent Bazemore led head coach Mike Budenholzer's squad with 24 points, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals while Paul Millsap had 18 points, eight boards, five assists and two blocks. Dwight Howard contributed a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds while Thabo Sefolosha had 10 points, two boards, three assists, and three steals.

Off the bench, new acquisition Mike Dunleavy chipped in 20 points, shooting 4-for-5 from the three-point line, with three rebounds and two assists.

Meanwhile, the Knicks are back to their losing ways after a 116-101 defeat in the hands of the East's second-running squad, Toronto Raptors, on the road at the Air Canada Center also on Sunday night, the New York Daily News reported.

Carmelo Anthony had 18 points, one rebound, one assist, and one block in only 26 minutes of play. Derrick Rose produced 16 points, two boards, three assists, and one block in a losing effort as well.

Kristaps Porzingis is again sidelined by his current Achilles problems and could be out for a few more games. He vowed not to rush back from injury as he wants to make sure he returns to 100 percent health.

Shooting guard Justin Holiday led the bench with 17 points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

New York is reeling at the moment, losing four of their last five games. The team has dropped to 10th in the east, two-and-a-half games behind eighth-seeded team Charlotte Hornets.

Prediction

The Hawks a good road team with a 12-9 record so far this season while the Knicks are decent at home with a 12-8 slate. A close win by Atlanta is predicted.
