'Eccentric Family' season 2 news, series confirmed with trailer, visuals

After a long hiatus, "Eccentric Family" is finally coming back for another season. The second season will feature new characters thrown into the mix that will create new problems and chaos for the tanukis and tengus.

Season Premiere Confirmed

The second season of "Eccentric Family" is set to return on April 2 this year. According to Crunchyroll, the new series will focus on the same struggle of the tengus and tanukis but with a new character thrown into the mix. Professor Akadama's son is back and he's throwing the relationship of the two supernatural species out of the window.

For the unfamiliar, "Eccentric Family" is an anime series based on a novel of the same name. It mainly follows the struggle of the tanukis - supernatural beings that dwell on land who could shape shift to anything they wish. They have a close relationship with the tengus - another set of supernatural beings that dwell in the air with the same shape shifting ability.

The first season, according to My Anime List, focuses on the life of Yasaburou - a tanuki who tries to balance his life as a tanuki while living in the midst of humans through his shape shifting ability. The first season ran in 2013 with 13 episodes.

Government Recognition

While "Eccentric Family" is known for their lovable characters and twists on the supernatural beings, it also boasts of beautiful rendering of the Kyoto. Because of its depiction, the series was recently recognized as a Special Goodwill Ambassador for the city. The series' producer received the award from mayor of Kyoto.

As the anime series receive the recognition, new visuals were released featuring the additional characters that will make a big impact in the upcoming series. A trailer was also released featuring the two supernatural beings easily roaming the beautiful city of Kyoto.
