Lee Sung Kyung shares story of her first love; Actress compares self to her character on ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo’

A day after "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" aired its final episode, Lee Sung Kyung graced an interview, where she talked about her first love and how she feared dating when she was younger.

According to Allkpop, the actress admitted she never dated until she reached 21 years old. "I started [dating] really late. I was scared, so it was about the last month in my 21st year that I had my first relationship. He was my first relationship and boyfriend," Lee Sung Kyung said.

She continued sharing that the first guy she ever dated was a nice person which pushed her to keep on seeing him. "There were cheesy and embarrassing moments, and we also saw each other's bad sides," the actress added.

Lee Sung Kyung also compared herself to Bok Joo from the recently-ended MBC drama series, stating that both of them are not interested in boys. The actress admitted she used to hide her feelings before she learned to be expressive.

Meanwhile, the actress said she is thankful to take the female lead role on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." Lee Sung Kyung added she was able to express her feelings while playing as Bok Joo, Soompi cited.

"After expressing hurtful emotions all the time with my past characters, it felt nice to act a character that the script revolved around," she said.

The actress also commended Kyung Soo Jin who played as Si Ho on "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo," stating that she knows what if feels like to take the second lead role.

"It's hard for actors to express emotions, too. [Second leads] have to express emotions that don't necessarily connect, or sometimes we just can't express them at all. I felt sorry towards her," Lee Sung Kyung said.

"Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" aired its finale on Jan. 11.
