"Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" alum Peter Gadiot has landed the villain role to play as the nefarious Mr. Mxyzptlk on "Supergirl" Season 2. It seems that Kara "Supergirl" Danvers (Melissa Benoist) will have to use her wits if she hopes to get rid of her new extra-dimensional pest.

According to TV Line, Gadiot reportedly debuts in Episode 13 of "Supergirl" Season 2. It is unclear exactly how his character Mr. Mxyzptlk will be adapted into the Arrow-verse. However, he will appear in two episodes.

Gadiot's character Mr. Mxyzptlk in "Supergirl" Season 2 is typically depicted as a small man with a signature purple derby hat, Entertainment Weekly reported. He has appeared in both DC comics and on TV.

Mr. Mxyzptlk is an impish, reality-bending trickster from the 5th Dimension who constantly pesters the Man of Steel. He wields abilities beyond comprehension, choosing instead to mess with Superman rather than wipe him from existence.

In DC Comics lore, Mr. Mxyzptlk who is best known for tormenting Superman and can be sent home and dispelled only by tricking him into saying or spelling his own name backwards. There is no word yet on how the character will figure into Kara's world, or if he will be sporting that fetch hat.

Among the actors who played Mr. Mxyzptlk include Howie Mandel on "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and Trent Ford played a variation on "Smallville," while Gilbert Gottfried voiced the character in "Superman: The Animated Series." Now, it is time for Gadiot, no stranger to fairy tale-inspired creatures, to pick up the mantle.

In addition to his run in the one-and-done "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" (2013-2014), Gadiot's other TV credits include "Matador" (2014), "Tut" (2015), and "Queen of the South" (2016). Reports of his "Supergirl" casting first came via Canadagraphs' Twitter feed (which we learned of via Kryptonsite).

"Supergirl" was renewed for Season 3 and returns to The CW for Season 2 on Jan. 23, Monday, with Episode 9.
