Tesla's Driverless Car Can Predict Car Crash To Avoid It; Dash Cam Footage Captures It [Video]

A video of footage of a test drive for the Tesla Model X has been going viral since December 28 because it is a breakthrough in the world of driverless cars. Apparently, this car could even predict a car crash that could save the driver's life.

In an article published by SFGate, the company, Tesla, is happy to show the world the success that they recently achieved with their self-driving car with the Autopilot feature. Using a dash cam, the car's activity was able to be recorded for the world to see that not only does it work well in driving without a human driver, but it is also safe.

The company was able to prove the safety of their driverless car when it predicted a possible car crash. The car's feature creates a warning beeping sound, as it slows down right before a possible collision occurs. What's so amazing about the footage was that the car already made an alarm hinting that a collision is about to happen and it was accurate that it did its job seconds before another car collided.

The company's test drive was right in perfect timing when it drove on a freeway in the Netherlands and a car crash happened along the way. The autopilot feature saves the car from crashing and if there is anyone in the passenger seat, that person's safety is also guaranteed.

Many are now wondering how exactly does this feature work and Electrek explain the mechanism behind it saying it has something to do with the car's radar. Most have assumed that the cameras are what's doing the trick when the truth is that the radar bounces underneath and all around the vehicle to send the signal to the car when it is about to crash. This is a big deal for the company and even for the society because it means that soon the human race could experience riding in a driverless car without having to worry about safety.
