(Photo : Facebook) "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is the first play written by famed author J.K Rowling.

The saga of the boy who lived has continued on stage courtesy of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". The story of the play picked 19 years from the events of the last novel, the battle at Hogwarts where Voldemort was finally vanquished by the unlikely hero, Harry Potter.

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" opened in London's Palace Theater in July 2016, earning rave reviews from critics. In fact, the play won several accolades despite causing some controversy with fans when a Black actress was cast as Hermione Granger, one third of the legendary J.K. Rowling created triumvirate.

After its successful run, the stage play will be brought to the United States in its original form after final talks of its move to Broadway has been announced on the official Harry Potter website, Pottermore. However, the announcement did not include the exact date of its release but it has been expressed that producers intend to open the play in Spring 2018.

The play is still to be produced by Sonia Freedman and Colin Callender, the brilliant producers of the London show, with the Ambassador Theater Group (ATG). The latter has already planned to revamp the Lyric for the "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" play, shrinking the seating capacity of the venue.

According to Screen Rant, producer ATG will lessen the capacity of the Lyric which was previously 1,900 to a 1,500 seat auditorium. The Lyric has been known to host various stage plays that require a lot of space and complex rigging. One of New York's newest theater stages, the Lyric has already hosted "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark", and currently hosting Cirque Du Soleil's "Paramour".

Bringing "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" was welcomed by many fans as it makes it significantly easier for fans in North America to see the award-winning production in all of its glory. But Freedman has cautioned that it is not yet a hundred per cent done deal.

The producer noted that "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is "still subject to planning". The "planning", however, still depends on the completing of the renovation of the Lyric. This redesign of the venue means that fans will have to wait longer than expected. But Freedman is still optimistic that the 2018 play date is still possible.
