"London Has Fallen" star Gerard Butler is set to return as Mike Banning for threequel "Angel Has Fallen." It seems that there are still plenty of things left to fall.

According to Variety, Butler will star again as Secret Service agent in "Angel Has Fallen." The latter is the third film in the "Fallen" franchise comprised of "Olympus Has Fallen" in 2013 and "London Has Fallen" this year.

"Angel Has Fallen" will focus on attackers trying to take down Banning's character and his efforts to protect American leaders from the forces of terrorism. The title refers to the Secret Service codename for Air Force One ("Angel"), although apparently this time Banning is just as much of a target as the president he is sworn to protect, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The script for "Angel Has Fallen" is written by "The Expendables 3" screenwriters Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt. Millennium Films is launching sales at the American Film Market.

With Butler, the producers of "Angel Has Fallen" are Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, Matt O'Toole, and John Thompson. The executive producers include Avi Lerner, Heidi Jo Markel, Christine Otal, and Trevor Short.

"Angel Has Fallen" is expected to be a box office hit like its predecessors. Antoine Fuqua's "Olympus Has Fallen" generated $160 million at the worldwide box office in 2013. This year's "London Has Fallen" grossed more than $195 million globally.

"London Has Fallen" was directed by Babak Najafi and written by Rothenberger, Benedikt, Chad St. John, and Christian Gudegast. Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Jackie Earle Haley, Robert Forster, and Melissa Leo also starred.

Butler is represented by CAA and will appear next in the upcoming sci-fi thriller "Geostorm," with Abbie Cornish, Katheryn Winnick, and Ed Harris. The said film will be released in theaters on Oct. 20, 2017.

"Angel Has Fallen" is planning to begin production in the first half of 2017. No director has been set and no word yet on franchise stalwarts such as Freeman and Eckhart.
