‘Saturday Night Live’ Season 42 hosts: ‘Suicide Squad’ star Margot Robbie is the first host with musical guest The Weeknd

"Suicide Squad" star Margot Robbie is the first host for "Saturday Night Live" Season 42 and is joined by the musical guest The Weeknd.

According to E! News, being a host for "Saturday Night Live" Season 42 is the first time for Robbie while the second for The Weeknd at a musical guest. The Weeknd previously performed last year on the episode with "Trainwreck" comedian Amy Schumer. He just announced the release of his new album "Starboy" that will be available in stores on Nov. 25.

Not only Robbie's hosting abilities are premiered in the "Saturday Night Live" Season 42 but also three new featured players in the cast are introduced, as Deadline reported. The new cast members are "Brother Nature" writer Mikey Day, "Uncle John" comedian Alex Moffat, and "America's Got Talent" finalist Melissa Villaseñor. They all made their debuts as featured players in the premiere episode.

Day, Moffat, and Villaseñor will be filling out the void left from the recent exit of three cast members in the "Saturday Night Live" Season 42. The veterans Jay Pharoah and Taran Killam were both let go after six seasons in order to pursue their Showtime pilots, and freshman Jon Rudnitsky also exited.

Leslie Jones and Pete Davidson were both promoted to primary cast members in the "Saturday Night Live" Season 42. Sarah Schneider and Chris Kelly have been promoted to co-head writers. Seven new writers were also added, including the popular sketch duo BriTANick (Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney), "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Zack Bornstein, Joanna Bradley, Anna Drezen, and Kristen Bartlett from UCB, and comedian Julio Torres.

To recall, Robbie played Harley Quinn in Warner Bros' latest DC Universe movie "Suicide Squad." She was widely considered the breakout among the ensemble cast that included Will Smith (Deadshot) and Jared Leto (Joker). The movie has made $720.8 million globally.

"Saturday Night Live" Season 42 just recently premiered on Oct. 1, Saturday, at 11:30 p.m. on NBC.
