'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' Sequel ‘Sword Of Destiny’ To Be Unleashed Next Year

After 16 long years the acclaimed film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" hit the silver screen across the United States, the movie will have its sequel. Unlike its predecessor "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," "Sword of Destiny" will use English as the standard language.

The movie draws its story from a novel written by Wang Dulu. The story is about the legacy of The Green Destiny, the mythically powerful sword wielded by Chow Yun Fat in the first movie.

Yu Xiulian (Michelle Yeoh) returns to the martial arts world when Dai Yanwang (Jason Scott Lee) attempts to steal the Green Destiny. In order to protect the sword, Yu Xiulian ties back with her old friend, Meng Sizhao (Donnie Yen).

The movie is directed by Yuen Woo Ping, a legendary fight choreographer, who also choreographed the fighting scenes on the first movie.

The movie will be aired in selected IMAX theaters and Netflix though Netflix subscribers will have to pay an additional fee to stream the movie. According to NBC news, the movie is the foremost film to be featured by Netflix. It will be the first time that a movie shall be premiered on a streaming content provider while also being played in theaters.

The movie will be released in China on February 8 next year and as posted on jaynestars, it is possible that both Chinese-language and English-language versions will be available.

The movie will have its premiere in North America on Feb. 28, 2016.
