Lee Min Ho is temporarily leaving show business as he is set to fulfill his mandatory military service soon. His enlistment date has been leaked and it appears that he will be starting his life as a soldier on May 12.

As reported by Herald Pop, the actor is set to serve in the army as a public service worker and he will be serving at the Gangnam District Office in Seoul. Further, his agency, MYM Entertainment, revealed that the "Legend of the Blue Sea" star does not want any special send-off activity and just want to enlist quietly.

Lee wants to be on active duty but his medical and physical condition won't allow him to. After medical exams, the military service office determined that the actor is not fit for strenuous work so he was given a task as a public servant.

It can be recalled that in 2006, he got into a serious car accident along with actor Jung Il Woo. Lee sustained various injuries including broken bones and severe leg injury. A metal plate was required to be placed on his thigh so he can walk straight again.

Lee was only 19 and still new in show business when the accident happened. He spent seven months in the hospital to recuperate and was able to return and became a successful actor.

In any case, the news of his enlistment surprised fans because the date is just a few weeks away. However, the actor could not postpone his service any longer as he is about to turn 30 already.

Moreover, Wow TV Korea reported that in his latest interview with star1 magazine, Lee was asked about his thoughts on his upcoming enlistment. He shared that he does not regret entering the army now but he feels a bit sad because his 20s is over and he thinks that he missed lots of great projects.

"It's not that I regret going to the army, but the fact that my 20s is passing away right before my eyes," Lee said as translated by Allkpop. "Now that I am approaching my 30s, I find a lot of things I could have done better in terms of projects. I am also sad because I am getting older."

Lee Min Ho will immediately serve as public service worker upon enlisting on May 23. Later, he will be summoned by the Military Manpower Administration so he can carry out his training throughout the first year of his service.
