It was a home ground win for Mumbai Indians against Gujarat Lions. The fourth straight win in IPL 2017 takes Mumbai Indians right on top of the points table.

Gujarat Lions batted first at Wankhede Stadium and posted a decent score of 177. Mumbai Indians started the chase and lost Parthiv Patel early. However, Jos Butler and Nitish Rana's spectacular 85-run partnership put Mumbai Indians on the winning course.

After Nitish and Jos departed, things looked bleak for Mumbai Indians but Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma established a 68-run partnership making the chase look easy and smooth for the host.

Rohit shared that it was a good performance and they strive to be consistent in all the three departments namely bowling, batting and fielding.

"Good overall performance. It is something we've always spoken about - being consistent in all three departments. The batting has come good and so has the bowling in the last few games. The fielding is something which is in our hands and that has come good as well. It is never easy playing a 4 O'clock game and credit to the boys for putting their hands up," Rohit said.

He praised the spinners (Harbhajan Singh and Krunal Pandya) for making the batsmen think by maintaining a different pace. He assured that Mumbai Indians will see a lot of Nitish in the times to come.

"I told him that this is only the start of the tournament and there is a long way to go. He has been enjoying with the guys in the side. The team is pushing him to perform better and are very happy that he is taking the responsibility coming in at number three."

Nitish Rana was declared the man of the match for his 53 off 36 balls knock on a Sunday afternoon. Stay tuned for more IPL updates and news.
