Yoon Kyun Sang has been receiving good feedbacks from fans and co-actors for his first lead role with "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People." The actor, however, is keeping his both feet on the ground amidst rising popularity.

For the historical drama, Yoon Kyun Sang takes the role of Hong Gil Dong, the son of a servant thief who regularly gives to the poor. As his character grew into becoming a hero for the people he loves, the 30-year-old actor also matured while filming the series.

"I've heard people say that I have matured alongside Hong Gil Dong," he said as per Soompi. "I'm sincerely grateful [for those words]."

He went on, "I think that I am still lacking in a lot of places and I still have a lot to learn, so I don't know what to say when people say such nice things. I will take it as a cue to work harder and put in my maximum effort from now on."

The actor shared all members of "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" production look after each other on the set. Yoon Kyun Sang also promised they will continue to work hard for the 10 remaining episodes of the MBC drama.

"I will work hard to show Hong Gil Dong's even greater maturity from now on. Without losing energy, I will work to not disappoint the director, writer, co-stars, and staff," he said.

Previously, Yoon Kyun Sang admitted he felt nervous upon getting his first main role proposal with "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People." Not only that, he was worried to lead a 30-episode series for the first time as per Allkpop.

Before he was chosen to play as Hong Gil Dong, Yoon Kyun Sang was known for his supporting roles as Jung Yoon Do and Ki Jae Myung in "Doctors" and "Pinocchio," respectively.

Catch "Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People" airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m.
