These days, the small screen is not lacking in teen dramas that remind viewers of what it was like in high school. What it lacks, however, is a teen drama that delivers. Enter Netflix's newest offering, "13 Reasons Why," which has been pegged by critics as one of this year's must-see shows. Here are 5 reasons why you should soon binge watch "13 Reasons Why."

It tackles real social issues

"13 Reasons Why," which is based on the bestselling YA novel by Jay Asher, delves into the horrors of the many social issues teens face these days such as sexual assault, shaming, depression and outside, Deadline reported. The series not only scratches at the surface, but actually dives into the core of it all and presents an "emotionally impactful tale."

The cast

The "13 Reasons Why" is one of the many reasons this show is a must-see. "Don't Breathe" star Dylan Minnette is on the show as Clay Jensen, one of the classmates of Katherine Langford's Hannah.

Another familiar face on the show is Ross Butler, whom many will identify as Reggie from "Riverdale." "Grey's Anatomy" alum Kate Walsh also joins the cast as Mrs. Baker, Hannah's mother.

Selena Gomez is the EP and she's devoted to the series

"13 Reasons Why" is executive produced by Selena Gomez. She was originally attached to play Hannah, but aged out of the part. Minnette says Gomez "really cares so much about this project," which has been working on for years.

The soundtrack

The soundtrack to the Netflix series is the bomb. According to PopCrush, it will feature tracks from up-and-coming artists Billie Eilish, Sir Sly and The Japanese House. It will also have classics like Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart." Gomez will also have two songs on the soundtrack, namely "Only You" and "Kill Em With Kindness."

"13 Reasons Why" premieres on March 31 on Netflix.
