NBA All-Star Weekend 2017: Kyrie Irving talks about flat earth is flat, conspiracy theory

Kyrie Irving made a headline ahead of the 2017 NBA All-Star, not with his amazing play but his comment in a podcast when he appeared with team mates Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson. His comment about his belief on flat earth theory has become trending topics.

Following his comment on “Road Trippin” aired Friday, Feb. 17, reporters came to him after the training session of Eastern Conference as reported by Sports Illustrated. He laughed at the reporters when they asked him about his remark that he believes in the earth is flat.

"Out of all the podcast, that's what you took out of it, the flat Earth?” Irving asked. He later continued by asking a rhetorical question, “Does it matter to you that I believe the world is flat?"

The Internet buzz began after the Episode 7 “Road Trippin” podcast featuring Irving, Frye and Jefferson. The 16-minute podcast invited NBA players to discuss many aspects and interesting topics. Suddenly, hosts Allie Clifton and Rafael Hernandez Brito asked Irving about conspiracy theory.

Irving answered the question explaining his belief about the alien. He also told that the facts about the shape of Neil Armstrong’s footprints on the moon which looked different than the shape of his boot.

Later he told Clifton and Brito that he believed the earth is flat as reported by ESPN. He also added that the flat earth is not even a conspiracy theory.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Irving’s team mate LeBron James supported him in expressing his opinion. They both said that it doesn’t matter what people believe in, whether the earth is round or flat.

However the podcast and Irving’s comment become Internet buzz and trending topics in twitter afterward. The reported followed him to ask confirmation about his comment about the flat earth.
