As production for "Star Trek Discovery" is now underway, a couple of new developments have surfaced online for the upcoming scifi reboot. New cast additions have been announced on Tuesday, and a leaked first look photo of the Klingons also made its way on the web recently.

According to CBS, producers of "Star Trek: Discovery" have cast a trio of actors to play members of the fictional Starfleet organization. Terry Serpico (Army Wives) will star as "Admiral Anderson," a high-ranking official of Starfleet. Maulik Pancholy (30 Rock) will star as "Dr. Nambue," the Chief Medical Officer of the Starship Shenzhou. Sam Vartholomeos (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) will star as "Ensign Connor," a Junior Officer in Starfleet Academy assigned to the Starship Shenzhou.

Serpico, Pancholy and Vartholomeos join previously cast Michelle Yeoh as Han Bo, Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets and Sonequa Martin Green as female lead, Rainsford.

After fifty years, the rebooted series promises to feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. The show hails from executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth.

In addition to the trio's casting announcement, an unofficial first look photo of the Klingons has surfaced online. While the image is yet to be confirmed by CBS and the showrunners, many fans have already theorized that it could actually be the real deal. The image was first released by The Trek BBS.

"Hanging out with my new Klingon Crew today on the set of the new #startrek," reads the photo's caption.

"Star Trek: Discovery" will premiere on CBS later this year. Subsequent episodes will be made available on CBS All Access, the Network's digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service, and will be distributed concurrently by CBS Studios International on Netflix.
