Steve Levitan has made many viewers laugh with his hit ABC comedy "Modern Family." The Emmy-award winning producer is now all set to helm a new comedy pilot for 20th Century Fox.

Levitan has been signed on to direct the pilot of a new Fox comedy titled, "LA -> Vegas." He will also serve as an executive producer on the pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"LA -> Vegas" has been described by Variety as "an ensemble workplace comedy about a group of underdogs trying to find their place in the world, set on the Friday night flight from LAX to Vegas and the returning flight on Sunday, who all share the same goal: to come back a winner in the casino of life."

The single-cam, 30-minute pilot episode was penned by Lon Zimmet, whose credits include the Netflix sitcom, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." Zimmet will also exec produce the project along with Levitan, Gary Sanchez Productions' Will Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy.

The episode will be Levitan's first directorial pilot in 12 years. His last pilot project was for the series, "Stacked," which starred Pamela Anderson in the lead role. "LA -> Vegas" hails from 20th Century Fox Television, with whom Levitan has signed an overall deal.

Levitan has helmed more than 20 episodes of "Modern Family," one of which also won him an Emmy in 2012. The producer/director took home Emmy awards in the 'Outstanding Comedy Series' category five years in a row, among many other honors.

Although Levitan has been signed on to direct the upcoming pilot, he will continue on as the showrunner and co-creator of "Modern Family" along with Christopher Lloyd. The hit comedy, which revolves around three interrelated Los Angeles-based families, is currently in its eighth season and ranks as ABC's top sitcom.
