So while we've heard that the 2005 widely acclaimed "Psychonauts" we'll be getting a sequel thanks to developer Double Fine and "Payday" publisher Starbreeze, the developers have brought news of the game's progress with a little sneak peek of "Psychonauts 2's" gameplay.

According to Gamespot, Project lead Zak McClendon and Double Fine boss Tim Schafer have taken upon themselves to feature the brand-new elements to the gameplay of "Psychonauts 2", as well as its story. Although, those who want to know the game in a fresh first-hand perspective, be warned of possible SPOILERS.

McClendon mentioned that the new installment to the quirky adventure game has improved in terms of the main character Raz's movement. The project lead also mentioned that the tight rope mechanics are better to utilize since they are reported to be larger in-game and have more of a "licorice whip" feel to them. The video below showcases the test environment instead of what players would actually see in the final release:

"Payday" publisher Starbreeze has already signed in a deal with developer Double Fine to market and distribute "Psychonauts 2." The sequel to the 2005 acclaimed adventure platformer was set up as a crowdfunding campaign in Fig for more than a month of running. Now, the developers have already proudly announced that the campaign for "Psychonauts 2" has ended, with 24,109 backers giving Double Fine a sum of $3,829,024, in which about $1,874,000 of that came from investments, and about $1,954,000 came from people who chose rewards.

Double Fine first announced "Psychonauts 2" back then in The Game Awards, as well as the campaign for crowdfunding. The game will be featuring voice actor Richard Horvitz, who worked in "Invader Zim" and "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers," to characterize the "Psychonauts" main character Raz.

"Psychonauts 2" is scheduled to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.
