Universal Pictures' latest psychological thriller, "Split," is currently making a lot of buzz online due to the film's shocking plot twist revealed at the end. The movie stars James McAvoy as a man with 24 personalities, who mysteriously abducts three teenage girls.

Split has been marketed in 2016 as a psycho-thriller with no ties to other supernatural elements. However, this perception of the film completely shifted when moviegoers saw a familiar face from one of Shyamalan's films two decades ago. That face is no other than Bruce Willis, who played the character of David Dunn the 2000 film, "Unbreakable."

Willis' cameo on Split explains that McAvoy's main character, Kevin Wendell Crumb, is actually an origin story of a villain belonging to the Unbreakable universe. Following the movie's international release, writer/director M. Night Shyamalan is now ready to explain what that ending means for the future of McAvoy's character.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Shyamalan revealed that Kevin's character has been written for the original script of Unbreakable. Now that his backstory is finally unveiled, Shyamalan reveals that he may already start working on a potential sequel.

"The answer is yes. I'm just such a wimp sometimes," the director said.

"I don't know what's going to happen when I go off in my room, a week after this film opens, to write the script. But I'm going to start writing."

When asked about whether he already has an outline for "Unbreakable 2," Shyamalan shared that he's working on something that's "really robust," which he calls "pretty intricate."

Following its first weekend release, "Split" has now crossed the $100 million mark globally at the box office. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a score of 73% on their Tomatometer, describing it as "a dramatic tour de force for James McAvoy in multiple roles."

The film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Brad William Henke, Sebastian Arcelus and Betty Buckley.
