Vitamins and other food supplements were recently deemed useless in preventing deadly illnesses such as cancer or any cardiovascular diseases. Institutions like the American Cancer Society along with the American Heart Association and The United States Preventive Services Task Force discovered this issue and would rather have people resort to having a balanced diet.

In an article published by Mirror, one of the reasons why taking vitamins and other food supplements is not recommended is because the body doesn't really absorb capsules and tablets. A person's body only recognizes food that is broken through digestion, which is then absorbed by the cells.

It can be assumed that it is all just a huge placebo effect whenever one pays for anything like vitamins and minerals. For years, manufacturers of these products claim that these could prevent cancer and heart diseases. Unfortunately, no proof or any study has come out to support their claim.

A good example of one of the most consumed vitamins is vitamin D for strong bones due to its calcium and phosphorus contents. Unfortunately, no study or any evidence in black and white that can support such information.

According to Tucson Local Media, it is important that consumers are well aware of this phenomenon with vitamins and food supplements before they purchase. Experts are even saying that there are possible side effects of taking these, especially for those who are already under some medication.

An example would be Vitamin B7, which is good to keep the eyes and the nervous system in tip-top shape. It is also a vitamin that could keep the liver and the skin healthy. However, one concern is that taking it could lead to misdiagnosis and even treatments that are not needed for cardiovascular diseases, breast cancer, and thyroid problems just to name a few.

Always make sure to do a thorough research before taking in these pills. Although it is still best to just stick to eating real food and having a balanced diet.
