Seulgi failed to hold back her tears during an interview with "Idol Party" where she looked back and talked about her struggles before debuting with Red Velvet.

According to Allkpop, Seulgi has undergone the longest training period among other members of Red Velvet; hence, the idol became emotional when she remembered the journey she has to go through before making it to where she is right now.

"During the 4th or 5th year of my trainee period, I had a big slump. I barely just hung on because my mother cheered me on saying I'd definitely do well. Later, I found out that my mother also had hard times during that time," Seulgi said.

The Red Velvet member started to cry when she remembered her mother and how she became her support system during the training period. Seulgi also thanked and apologized to her mother during the interview.

Reports stated Seulgi began her training with SM Entertainment in 2007. After five years, she was introduced through a pre-debut project called SM Rookies alongside Rev Velvet co-members Irene and Wendy.

Seulgi and Red Velvet made their official debut with the release of a digital single titled "Happiness" in 2014. The idol was also casted to play as Dorothy in a musical called "School Oz" the following year.

Just this year, Seulgi and Red Velvet co-member Wendy released "Don't Push Me" for drama series "Uncontrollably Fond." Aside from that, Seulgi also made an appearance on "King of Mask Singer."

In fact, Korean singer Ali, who also appeared on the MBC singing competition, commended the Red Velvet member for her talent in singing, Soompi cited. Ali added she was even challenged because of Seulgi.

"Red Velvet's Seulgi sang so well that I thought, "I can't go easy." I was motivated," she said of Seulgi, who was the contestant Cinema Heaven on MBC's "King of Mask Singer."
