Taeyeon was embroiled in a huge controversy and put in a negative light after Wiz Khalifa posted on Twitter that the South Korean singer bailed on their performance at the recently held MAMA 2016. The Girls' Generation leader has since broken her silence about the Taeyeon and Wiz Khalifa MAMA 2016 controversy to explain her side.

It was heavily reported that Wiz Khalifa and Taeyeon were to share the stage in a special performance at MAMA 2016, singing to the 2015 hit "See You Again." However, fans were surprised when Wiz Khalifa continued the performance without Taeyeon showing up. In a series of tweets, the rapper said he, too, was surprised that Taeyeon backed out of the performance. He added that he was able to rehearse with Taeyeon and had no idea why she didn't push through. Clearing the air, Wiz Khalifa assured fans that there's no beef between him and Taeyeon despite the Taeyeon and Wiz Khalifa MAMA 2016 controversy.

While it appeared at first that Taeyeon backed out of the performance all of a sudden, she took to Instagram to explain her side of the story, Koreaboo reported. The "11:11" singer narrated that during the performance, it was discovered that the producers only had an AR ready instead of an MR version of the song, which is needed when doing a live performance. While it was agreed that they would just work with the AR to make the performance possible, she was informed a few hours later that her part had been cancelled.

It appears, however, that there may be more to the Taeyeon and Wiz Khalifa MAMA 2016 controversy than just the AR and MR mix-up. In an exclusive report by Koreaboo, Wiz Khalifa's music director DJ Bionics explained that there had been some discrepancies during the rehearsals. It was revealed that miscommunication played a large role in Taeyeon not being able to perform with Wiz Khalifa.

At the time of the rehearsal, Wiz Khalifa's team was told that Taeyeon couldn't join them because she was not feeling well. DJ Bionics also said that none of the MAMA 2016 organizers informed them that they downloaded the wrong version of the song to be performed, and only told them about it when it was already too late.

DJ Bionics also said they are upset for the fans who eagerly waited for Wiz Khalifa and Taeyeon's collaboration on MAMA 2016.
