G-Friend member Umji is taking a break from all her activities to consider her health condition. On Wednesday, Source Music released a statement to confirm Umji's hiatus for the meantime, while G-Friend continues their promotions.
"Recently, Umji felt pain in her legs and was found to have sprained her left sartorius muscle. The thin, long sartorius muscle is used when walking or using the knee, and an issue in this muscle seems to be the cause of her pain," the agency said according to Allkpop.
Source Music added they are following the doctor's recommendation to let Umji rest and undergo treatment for her fast recovery. The agency also asked the fans to understand their decision, emphasizing that Source Music will assist Umji in her recovery.
"G-Friend will continue promoting as a group of 5 with Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, and SinB until Umji fully recovers," the agency added.
G-Friend's Umji recently released the soundtrack of "Shopaholic Louis," noting that singing without her co-members for the drama's soundtrack is a first for Umji, Soompi reported.
Aside from that, the G-Friend member also showcased a different side of her in "The Way." From their usual bubbly and bright music, Umji surprised the fans with her innocent and sweet voice which fitted well in the music video.
Umji and the five other members of G-Friend debuted on Jan. 15, 2015 under Source Music. The girl group became popular after their video went viral on the internet where G-Friend continued their performance amid multiple falls over a slippery stage.
G-Friend won the admiration of the netizens after showing professionalism despite the incident. Reports suggest Yuju fell over eight times, while other members slipped and flipped while performing "Me Gustas Tu."
