Netflix's controversial hit "Making a Murderer" is reportedly being picked up for a movie adaptation, with big names such as Brad Pitt purportedly interested in the project.

The award-winning docu-series is rumored to get a big screen adaptation, with Pitt poised to play Steven Avery. In an exclusive interview with In Touch Weekly, Avery revealed that he plans to write a memoir about his life and what he went through in prison. He also hopes his story will be turned into a movie with Pitt in the starring role.

For now, Avery has a new lawyer who has filed a motion to review some key pieces of evidences that led to his conviction for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach. Avery's nephew, Brendan Dassey, who's also one of the key figures in the Netflix show, has already been released from prison after the network reinvestigated the case.

"Hopefully all of the tests will come back good and the truth will come out," Avery said. "I'm comfortable. I know I have a good attorney and [she'll] prove my innocence."

Meanwhile, "Making a Murderer" has been renewed for a new season. The new season will give an in-depth look at the post-conviction process and the emotional impact it has on all the parties involved.

"Making a Murderer" Season 2 will introduce Avery's new lawyer Kathleen Zellner as well as give access to Dassey's legal team and the parties' families.

Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are returning to executive producer and co-direct the series.

"Making a Murderer" won four awards at the recently-held Emmy Awards. It took home three awards in nonfiction categories for best documentary, best writing and best directing. It was also received best picture editing for a nonfiction program, Deadline reported.

When asked about the recent development in Avery and Dassey's case, Ricciardi commented, "This is just part of the process, this is justice at work, and we will continue to document that. It is a very trying time for all of the families involved."

The release date and number of episodes for "Making a Murderer" Season 2 has yet to be announced.
