When it comes to online service, there are two important aspects to consider - reliability and network speed. These two factors are the reasons why Xbox Live is the fastest and most dependable gaming network beating PlayStation Network.

According to an independent study by IHS Markit between Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, Xbox Live is more dependable and much faster than PSN, in terms of logging in and the rate at which users could link friends in a party and upload photos.

"We recognize it is an ongoing journey that requires considerable investment, feedback, and improvement," said Dave McCarthy, Xbox's head of operations.

The independent study was made in two consecutive months, and got its outcome from tests by using best-selling games that highlight matchmaking support, GameSpot reported.

"The Overall Quality experience combined both Speed and Reliability metrics while also including other indicators of game quality, such as the ability to join gameplay with friends and share achievements, as well as the quality of sound for voice chat," says the study.

Polygon reported that Microsoft is already integrating the research's study into its business with an ad campaign claiming that Xbox Live is the best console, having the most excellent multiplayer experience. The company seems to be in the mood of showing Sony who's the boss in terms of consoles, particularly after the recent PlayStation event that unveiled its hardware.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is brewing another console which according to them is the most powerful console installed with 6 teraflops of graphical processing power. It would be the first and sole controller that will allow authentic 4K gaming and hi-fidelity virtual reality. In addition, the new console will be compatible with all Xbox One games as well as accessories.

Sony has not yet provided any comment to the public regarding the conducted study.
