"The Last Guardian," one of the most highly anticipated video game title for the PlayStation 4, is once again plagued by technical problems forcing its developer to push the game's release date. Originally slated for an Oct. 25 release, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida set the new release date on Dec. 6.

The latest postponement is just the latest problem to arise following the troubled developmental phase of "The Last Guardian." The game was announced in 2009, and has been in 'development limbo' for almost a decade already. A playable demo of the game was revealed during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo and it showed a handful of camera and graphical issues.

In a statement acquired by The Guardian, "The Last Guardian" developers said, "To ensure The Last Guardian delivers on the experience that the game's creators have envisioned, we need to take the extra time to work on those issues."

Aside from several postponements, "The Last Guardian" project was nearly cancelled when the game's lead developer Fumito Ueda, along with several members of the team working on the game, decided to leave Sony. The game received a new breath of life when Ueda, with his genDESIGN studio, decided to join back the project as creative consultants.

"The Last Guardian" was originally slated to be released for the PlayStation 3 console, according to GameSpot. However, due to technical difficulties during development, the game was postponed and was announced for the PlayStation 4 instead. This decision has created more technical difficulties as the team working on the project had to reprogram the game in order to fully work with the intended platform.

"The Last Guardian" follows the story of a young boy and a half-bird-half mammal creature named Trico. Based on previously released gameplay videos, gamers are tasked to control the boy and issue commands to Trico in order to solve the game's puzzles.
