Apple has recently tapped actress and entrepreneur Jessica Alba to join the new reality show "Planet of the Apps" as a mentor and executive producer. However, the announcement was not well-received by many tech enthusiasts as some of them were furious about the casting.

Alba will be joining Gwyneth Paltrow, will.i.am and tech investor Gary Vaynerchuk as a mentor for Apple's new reality show. According to Variety, the company is banking on people who have the potential to bring a mixture of both star power and experience in business to showcase their expertise. Though the company has not revealed the full details of the reality show, it is said to promote the Apple store and tackle discussions on the development of new generation Apps.

Alba is known for how she transformed herself from a celebrity to a successful entrepreneur. The actress founded "The Honest Company" back in 2011, which manufactures household goods and beauty products made with natural ingredients. The business now operates with a million-dollar valuation, which is why Apple thinks the actress would be a good asset to "Planet of the Apps."

However, many technology enthusiast do not agree with Apple's decision. Not only are they furious about Alba's recent casting, some of them also think that none of the celebrities are qualified enough to serve as mentors for "Planet of the Apps." Romain Dillet from TechCrunch expressed his own opinion about the recent casting for "Planet of the Apps."

DIllet said that "I don't think any of these hosts are qualified to talk about design, engineering or even growth strategy when it comes to releasing a new app on the App Store. They're no Whitney Wolfe, Evan Spiegel, Anne Wojcicki, Kevin Systrom, Julia Hartz, Dennis Crowley, Emily Weiss or Pavel Durov.

Dillet further added that because of Apple's line up, "Planet of the Apps" would be better regarded as a show for average television viewers, rather than one technology enthusiasts and TechCrunch readers.
