Patrick Wilson joins 'The Conjuring 2' co-star Vera Farmiga and Liam Neeson in action thriller ‘The Commuter’

Patrick Wilson joins his "The Conjuring 2" co-star Vera Farmiga in the Liam Neeson's thriller "The Commuter." Jaume Collet-Serra is the director of the film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson has a key role in the thriller "The Commuter" because he helps him along the way. He will play as a trusted friend of Neeson's character. Farmiga joined also the cast back in June. She will play a mysterious woman who boards a commuter train and proposes an enticing opportunity to Neeson's character.

"The Commuter" is about an insurance salesman (Neeson) caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home. He is forced by a mysterious stranger (Farmiga) to uncover the identity of a passenger before the train's last stop.

"The Commuter" is the latest and fourth action collaboration between Neeson and Collet-Serra, as Variety reported. They had teamed up on "Run All Night" in 2015, "Nonstop" in 2013, and "Unknown" in 2011. Collet-Serra is also the executive producer along with his Ombra Films partner Juan Sola.

Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi wrote the script for Studiocanal and the Picture Company in "The Commuter." The Picture Company's Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are the producers. Lionsgate is the distributor.

"The Commuter" is currently shooting in London. It will be released in theatres on Oct. 13, 2017. Other cast members will also include Elizabeth McGovern, Jonathan Banks, and Sam Neill.

Wilson is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content. He previously appeared in one of this summer's biggest hits, "The Conjuring 2." He reprised his role of paranormal investigator Ed Warren. Farmiga plays his wife. The New Line horror sequel has grossed over $318 million worldwide.

Wilson will next make an appearance opposite Michael Keaton in "The Founder." Collet-Serra is also the director of Sony's "The Shallows" shark thriller, starring Blake Lively.
