The It's On Us initiative was launched by the White House in 2014 to raise awareness about the importance of preventing sexual assaults on college campuses and supporting survivors of sexual assault.

Singer-songwriter Lady Gaga is set to star in a major studio film for the first time, in the remake of "A Star is Born." She will star opposite Bradley Cooper, who will also have his debut as a director.

According to Deadline, the project has been greenlit by production company Warner Bros. and the deal has reportedly been closed by the studio's President of Creative Development Greg Silverman. Cooper is working with Will Fetter on the script, and he is also producing alongside Todd Phillips, his partner at Joint Effort production company.

"For those of us lucky enough to watch him work as an actor and producer, it has been clear that Bradley would make this transition to director," Deadline quotes Silverman as saying. "We are honored that he is doing it, here, at his home-Warner Bros.-and with Lady Gaga as a collaborator and co-star. The world is in for a treat as these great artists craft an all new vision of A Star is Born."

Entertainment Weekly says there had already been previous rumors about Lady Gaga starring in the movie. She seems to be most suited for the role, as she has received multiple awards and nominations for her music from various award-giving bodies, and her song "Til It Happens to You" was nominated at the Oscars. As for acting, she has taken home a Golden Globe for her performance in the anthology "American Horror Story: Hotel."

Apart from taking the lead role, the 30-year-old actress is also set to make new songs for the film. She will be portraying the role of a singer whose career rises as her mentor/lover's career takes a plunge.

"A Star is Born" was first shown in 1937 starring Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. It was remade in 1954 starring Judy Garland and James Mason, and then in 1976 starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. The latter two films were distrusted by Warner Bros. and received multiple awards.

There is no information yet on when the third remake of "A Star is Born" will be shown in theaters.
