Nickelodeon announced that they would be airing a one-hour special episode of the famous 90's cartoon, "Rocko's Modern Life." Joe Murray confirmed that he will be returning as the shows' executive producer and director.

In honor of Nickelodeon's 25th year, Murray was on board with the studio's decision to bring back "Rocko's Modern Life" and turn it into a movie. According to The Verge, the studio will be reviving the animated series and develop it into a movie. Murray and his team would bring back all the classic characters while bringing something new in O-Town. The network has not announced when the special would be released and has not introduced the line-up for its casts.

Nickelodeon first aired "Rocko's Modern Life" in 1993 where the show ran for four seasons each with thirteen episodes. The series achieved a cult like status among teenagers and older viewers and even influenced later animated shows. Murray spoke to Entertainment Weekly and said that bringing back the cartoon wasn't just all about nostalgia. Up until now, the creator feels that the characters still has relevance. He noted that it would be interesting to add elements of the 21st century and see how it would come into play in O-Town.

Alongside this, Nickelodeon is also in the works of developing cross-over films featuring classic characters from the studio's popular animated franchises. A "Hey Arnold" movie entitled "The Jungle Movie" is already being developed while plans to bring back its famous game show, "Legends of the Hidden Temple" is already in the works.
