Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg wanted to give his audience something new to look forward to aside from the Flashpoint story arc in "The Flash" Season 3. He revealed that Gorilla Grodd would be returning in the forthcoming season and the team will be heading to Gorilla City.

Kreisberg confirmed during the summer press tour of the Television Critics Association that a two-part episode of "The Flash" Season 4 was taking place in Gorilla City. That means that Barry and his team will going head to head with Gorilla Grodd again. Many were wondering how the return of Grodd could fit in the Flashpoint story arc. Previously, Grant Gustin hinted that the Flashpoint won't last all season but the repercussions of the event would. The return of Grodd could be one of those repercussions.

According to Movie Pilot, the return of Grodd was indicative of the "The Flash" Season 4 embracing its comic book roots.. Tom Cavanagh's character, Harrison Wells, explained during one episode that Gorilla City in Earth-2 was a refuge for apes who had been subjects of scientific experiments. Their journey to Gorilla City could mean the introduction of more intelligent gorillas and the possible appearance of Solovar, the smart leader of Gorilla City known for his psychic abilities and great wisdom.

The origin story of Grodd has been tweaked in "The Flash Season" 4 but Screen Rant reported that Kresiberg would take the opportunity of adding it in the two-part episode. If the show would follow the original comic storyline then Grodd would most likely be wreaking havoc in Gorilla City. If not, fans can still expect that Barry and his team are in for a wild visit.
