Starz has released the first trailer of "American Gods" featuring the meeting of Shadow Moon (played by Ricky Whittle) and Mr. Wednesday (played by Ian McShane), which was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con. Neil Gaiman was present in the panel and hinted about the coming of the novel's sequel.

The trailer made an impact to a lot of audiences during the Comic-Con. The trailer shows Shadow being released from prison, and later finding out that his wife Laura was murdered. He finds himself in a plane next to Mr. Wednesday who offers him a job, and Shadow's acceptance binds him to a mysterious world of divine conflict.

Executive producer Michael Green is known for his stylish work in the NBC series "Kings" while producer Bryan Fuller was responsible for a lot of cult favorites which includes the famous "Hannibal" and "Pushing Daisies." Fuller is known to be someone who likes to bring forward his own visions to the films he is creating. Vanity Fair reported that the producer wanted to do the same for "American Gods," of course, with the author's approval.

Gaiman said that the first season of "American Gods" will only deal with one-third of the book. The novel is only one lengthy book which is exactly the reason why readers are wondering how the team would stretch the adventures of Shadow Moon and Mr. Wednesday. Fuller and Green are actually working with Gaiman for extra materials which they could add to expand the story. Slate reported that both producers previously had struggles in terms of limitations in the network they worked for, but with Starz, they would have more freedom.

Gaiman also pointed out that fans should be more excited about what new materials will be added to the series. He revealed that he was doing an outline of a chapter about a U.S Japanese Internment Camp which would feature Japanese Fox Spirits known as Kitsune. His revelation of other potential story arcs also hinted the coming of the long-awaited sequel for "American Gods."
