There have been talks that the director of "Jurassic World" Colin Trevorrow was not the first choice in the directorial seat. The acclaimed horror film director and director for "Jurassic World 2" J.A Bayona was actually eyed to direct the first installment, but Steven Spielberg gave Trevorrow the chair instead. Despite the success of the viewership ratings in the first installment, Trevorrow admits that Spielberg's influence became the saving grace.
According to Collider, although Trevorrow was in the front seat, Spielberg was doing a lot of things in the background. He was involved in the script writing and was also in charge of breaking up the sequence of the story. He watched every detail of the production from behind, making slight tweaks if he sees the need for improvement.
Spielberg still commended Trevorrow for his great work because according to him, the production would not have come together without the latter's efforts. Now, he entrusts that Bayona would do the same for "Jurassic World 2."
As Trevorrow exits the production to take on another project, Bayona, being the first choice, now steps in. Given the latter's expertise in horror elements, Spielberg was confident that he could bring back the classic dark themes of the original "Jurassic Park" trilogy in the upcoming "Jurassic World 2."
According to Cinema Blend, the details of "Jurassic World 2" are limited because Bayona did not want any information about the film leaked. He wanted no spoilers or whatsoever to maintain the element of surprise. The only details that fans can expect are the return of the dreaded T-Rex and the evolution of military crime fighting dinosaurs.
"Jurassic World 2" is scheduled to premiere on December 2018.
